Migration to all-IP
Evolution Series™ XPAND IP is a flexible high-capacity wireless transmission solution designed to meet the challenges of the operators migrating from legacy TDM to next generation all-IP networks.
This is an ideal solution for creating LTE ready wireless backhaul in the hybrid TDM-/Ethernet environment, where parts of the network have fully migrated to IP, while other parts still need to remain connected. Evolution Series™ XPAND IP bridges the legacy and the future, allowing operators to cut costs and gracefully migrate their networks to all-IP.
Carrier grade packet transport
Evolution Series™ XPAND IP is a packet-based carrier grade platform that meets the requirements of 2G/3G/LTE/WiMAX backhaul. The product is built around a layer-2 (Ethernet) switch fabric, and has built in features for traffic aggregation and switching in different radio directions.
Common platform software-defined radio
Evolution Series is a fully software-configurable radio. Transmission capacity, Adaptive Coded Modulation (ACM), Ethernet features and TDM-cross-connect can be remotely configured without replacing hardware components. The common platform approach and full-band tunability of the transceiver units mean fewer spare parts and simplified logistics. Capacities are upgraded remotely, which eliminates the need for site visits and tower climbing.
All-IP, mixed Ethernet/TDM, all-TDM
Evolution Series™ XPAND IP can be used in either all-IP mode, transmitting Ethernet traffic only, or it can be configured to allow for TDM traffic. The system allows for TDM capacity of up to 75xE1/96xT1, while all other traffic is Ethernet/all-IP. Fixed or adaptive modulation can be selected.
Multichannel ABC
Terminal configurations range from non-protected or Hot StandBy to 8 radio channels aggregated or traffic nodes with up to four link directions.
Evolution Series™ XPAND IP features Multichannel Adaptive Bandwidth Control, the unique technology for traffic distribution over several radio frequency carriers. The packet distribution is based on physical layer, and is independent of packet flows and sizes.
The system automatically scales with available channels and capacities and employs adaptive modulation with advanced QoS mechanisms to ensure that high priority traffic is transmitted unaffected.
MicroIFU option – for last mile applications
Evolution Series™ XPAND IP offers two different indoor unit options. The first one, Universal IFU, provides the flexibility and configuration options required by backhaul applications, while the other, MicroIFU, is ideal for last mile applications where deployment cost is a defining factor.
